February is here, which means it is Jump Rope for Heart time at Tucson Country Day School! All K-5 students have been given packets for our annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Every student who raised at least $5 can get a lanyard with the dog Superpup on it. There are already quite a few students sporting their lanyards already, and I hope to see more over the next few weeks. If every student from Kindergarten through 5th grade was able to raise $5, as a school we could raise $2,500 for the AHA! How amazing would that be? Please help your student be a heart hero this year, and help our school make a major difference in the community!
The 5th graders are starting to gear up for our hike in Sabino Canyon at the end of March. Ms. Annie and Ms. Nicole's classes are going March 24tj, while Mr. B and Ms. Citron's classes are going on the 25th. We will be spending the weeks leading up to our hike talking about hiking safety, essential items for hiking, wildlife identification and safety, and fire safety. Look for permission slips to go home this week. Make sure they are signed and returned so your child can participate. We are also looking for chaperones, so please sign up on your child's permission slip if you are interested coming on a 6 mile hike with us! The hike isn't extremely difficult, but there are some tough areas, including one long stretch of an uphill climb. Email me if you have any questions about the hike.
